I am back...from a whole morning of attending our Company's Committee Meeting and followed by Briefing on Human Resource Development Fund which I have coordinated. Good...that function is done and over with..now I have to concentrate with our Annual Luncheon to be held on 7 August at Kimanis Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu and like the previous years, our Chief Minister is our Guest of Honour. I just hope he won't cancel his attendance at the last minute and get one of his Deputy CM to represent him. So far, I managed to get 38 tables (including tables for VIPs/invited guests) and 4 companies has yet to confirm if they are buying a table but seems like they would..most likely. But Kimanis Ballroom can only fit 40 tables comfortably. Most of the major hotels in Kota Kinabalu are members of our Chamber and its Hyatt turn this year to hold our luncheon..last year was Le Meridien KK and maybe next year back to Sutera Harbour Resort again...see we have to rotate...like giving chances..give these hotels some business...anyways...I am quite stressed up with this luncheon thing...but I am okay..use to it...ok enough about that or else I jadi crazy nanti.
Now...here's something very cute and interesting! I like...
I just love this cute illustrations of 'Mama' by one of my fav illustrator/artist/craft designer, Kim Kutner (Kim's Suitcase). Kindly check my 'The Creative Minds' Links.
Do you love jazz? I love jazz..who don't. To all Jazz lovers, check this out...
The Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu's 'The Atrium' on Sunday, July 29 and August 5 at 3.00pm - 5.00pm. Could be interesting.
Hey, do you love bananas...I'll go nuts about bananas...It's my favourite fruit..kalah my love for durians..hehe. Here's some interesting facts about bananas...if you already know or read it somewhere..good lah.
BANANA
Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!
This is interesting. After reading this, you’ll never look at a banana in the same way again.
Bananas contain three natural sugars – sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes.
But energy isn’t the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
Depression: According to recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills – eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.
Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels and avoid morning sickness.
Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressured jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by nacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a “cooling” fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.
Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body’s water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as 40%!
Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill of a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster of surgical tape!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, “A banana a day keeps the doctor away!”
Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe…polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit! So go eat a banana today☺

What a day to start of with....
My sister, Debbie nearly hit the gas pump (mm..is that the correct word?) at the gas station in Tamparuli while sending my mom to the 'Tamu' but she bumped into something hard and caused a slight tear in her car's front tyre and most likely to get punctured later. Two elderly dusun men saw and laughed..konon..yai..so what. We decided to replaced it with the spare tyre but we girls..konon..do not want to get our hands dirty..lucky, one of the gas attendant offered to help us. Deb asked me to give him RM5 tip..I agree but since I don't have smaller change..I did a quick run to the nearest kedai runcit to buy newspaper but instead I bought In Style Mag (May 2007 Issue) for RM4..wah..so suprise to find an old and small kedai runcit sells In Style Mags..and they have Vogue too..and all the old issues they are selling cheap at RM4. Got caught up in the traffic jam again and we were abit late for work.
Aaa..excuse me Deb, what are you doing?
Anyways, I know this is a boring entry..saja-saja buang masa and release tension in the office before I get my feet up...need to be productive at work today.

1,000 Voices Mega Concert For Peace
Last Sunday night (15 July) went to see the 1,000 Voices Mega Concert for Peace organized by the Adventist Development Foundation at the Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The concert featured two guest artistes (group) - The Golden Angels from South Korea and The Ambassadors from the Philippines and is the No. 1 choir group in the Philippines and the world champion for the Gospel and Spiritual category in the 2006 World Choir Games (4th Choir Olympics)..wow I didn't know that Choir also has Olympic games! I say the concert was quite good but the sound system was quite dissapointing though, I don't know why the technicians didn't bother to adjust the white screen projection or at least place it in a proper location..higher ground or something? (actually not sure what you called that thing kahaha) and its the organizers job to tell them? Anyways, its their 1st time and maybe the 2nd time there might be some improvement..perhaps a better stage in the future ya. Quite a pity, that the Ripples Choir from Tamparuli (Sshh...I am an ex choir member) didn't sang live (?)...their voices already pre-recorded kah..maybe if each one of them holds a microphone..maybe baru boleh tanding tu Ambassadors group..hehe?..their songs macam lagu patriotic pulak...(sorry kio) but I am still proud of them..being introduced as the best choir in Sabah (really kah?)...glamour jugak sikit lah...keep it up aunties and uncles! Another local artiste, Joanna Sue Henley Rampas, her voice memang ada power and soulful...she should join the Akademi Fantasia 6 next year..you go girl! Overall, I was pretty inspired and I did have goose bumps too..'kalau dusun sakap'..Sumarat bah..aisehman. Makes me want to revive my faith. Well, enough said..God bless everyone! (Ehem..tiba-tiba pulak jadi holy ni)
The bad and pitiful view of the stage..I guess its me who doesn't know how to take good shots/angle...Booooo

This Is My Now Song Lyrics
Hey, I finally got the lyrics of the finale song sung by Jordin Sparks at the American Idol 2007 final concert. I just love this song and Jordin sang it so well but she was in tears at the end, and as usual I was so emotional I cried too with goose bumps all over me.
This Is My Now
Sang by Jordin Sparks, American Idol 2007
There was a time I packed my dreams away
Living in a shell, hiding from myself
There was a time when I was so afraid
I thought I’d reached the end
Baby, that was then
But I am made of more than my yesterdays
This is my now
And I am breathing in the moment
As I look around
I can’t believe the love I see
My fear’s behind me
Gone are the shadows and doubt
That was then
This is my now
I had to decide
Was I gonna play it safe?
Or look somewhere deep inside
Try to turn the tide
Find the strength to take that step of faith?
This is my now
And I am breathing in the moment
As I look around
I can’t believe the love I see
My fear’s behind me
Gone are the shadows and doubts
That was then
This is my now
I have a courage like never before, yeah
I settled for less, but I’m ready for more
Ready for more
This is my now
And I am breathing in the moment
As I look around
I can’t believe the love I see
My fear’s behind me
Gone are the shadows and doubt
That was then
This is my now
Repeat twice

Here kitty kitty
My mom adopted a pregnant female Siamese cat named Popo a few months ago and here is one of her offspring. I love cats and I quite believe that it can give good luck to its owner and I used to have a pet cat named Oyoi but I shoo it away (I am soooo bad) since I became a mama last year...but suprisingly I still feel lucky at times..haha.

Sabah Bloggers Meet on 6 July 2007
Joined my sis, Debbie to attend the 1st Sabah Bloggers Meet last Friday though I am still so, so new in this blogging thingy but went anyway just for fun and meet people. It was held in a boat owned by Pirates of Borneo Restaurant (formerly known as Benito's Cafe)..cool, and paid like RM50 nett for a BBQ Buffet. Overall, I say it was okay...fun also but I was expecting some of the bloggers..especially the guys to be more crazy friendly and not so malu-malu kucing. I met some old friends...small world. Again as usual I am always lucky when it comes to lucky draws, I won myself Bon Jovi's latest album CD 'Lost Highway' (though I am not really a Bon Jovi fan)..so my RM50 not so rugi lah. Check out some photos taken that night☺
