Sick weeks

I didn't have the mood to blog for almost two weeks or maybe more - blame it on the bug flu! I think it's also because of the weather (rainy season) - that's what everyone says. I have to be on antibiotics because of my terrible sore throat and coughing so badly but still no sign of recovering yet...that's me I've got to admit it that I have a very, very weak immune system. Remedies like drinking honey + lemon or gargling salt water doesn't work well for me. My dad used to tell me that I'm the only child among 5 siblings who is always prone to get sick...that I could easily catch a cold. That's why I have no excuse to not buy and take up multi-vitamin supplements all my life. Guess that I didn't really take care of myself that well. I missed singing already but can't do with this prolong coughing...aaarrggh.

The sad thing is that my baby son Chardon also caught the sick bug from me...I know it's difficult to avoid this to happen. He had high fever & runny nose last week and the doctor had to give him antibiotics as well (not good). And now he's also coughing as badly as I am and often distracts his slumber time every night - deep sigh here:( I had to give my full attention and lots of TLC while nursing him and for that I had sleepless nights too. So everyday to work either driving with my sister or at times taking the public transportation (bus) - I will have some time to doze off all the way. The meds made me even more sleepier.

Anyway...I finished my antibiotics which I really hate to do and hope to get better very, very soon...same for Chardon too. It's heart-wreaking to even hear a baby coughing like adults do. Sorry it's boring sick weeks so this is a boring posts for you people I'm sure.

My most favourite people!

They are none other than my two beautiful kids - Carmen Jewel and Chardon Tristan the loves of my life! And I'm so glad that finally Carmen starts to appreciate Chardon as her little baby brother and acting like a good sister.

Here's a very recent picture of them - my fav one! Carmen is 4 and Chardon @ 8 months old. Their smiles just melt my heart away....

In the clouds...

When I woke up this morning, I think I was still dreaming that I thought it's Sunday today. I saw my husband dressing up for work and I ask why are you working today, it's Sunday....he just laughed and said you're still dreaming...and then later my sister shouted from her room 'hey you mengigau lah (talking in my sleep). I guess I was still up in the clouds that morning...but I totally forgot what did I dream about till I thought it's the weekend. I think I watch too much Korean drama this week (ahaha) and Chardon keeps waking me up in the wee hours of the morning...either he wants a feed or feeling uncomfortable in his crib or he pee in his diaper or just being manja with his mama and it's the same thing every night. I never get to have a good night sleep since I gave birth to Chardon. And I always continue my sleep in the car while my sister drive us to work and sometimes I mengigau in the car as well.

Anyway....I use to have a Dream Catcher hang in my room before....well, that's long time ago when I was still in college. I think my younger brother must have taken it and keep it in his room - it's a cool thing. I'm always fascinated with the Native Americans (Red Indians) culture and someday visiting their territories in the US is one of my dream list.


The Native Americans believe that DREAM CATCHERS send all good dreams on to the Dreamer but hold the bad dreams in the web until daylight when they are destroyed by the sun's rays.

I have an active brain - I dream almost every night...(seriously). Let's just say my mind is full of imagination!

'Orang Tua Kecil'

My baby son, Chardon Tristan has just turned 4 months old but my Indon maid called him 'orang tua kecil' (little old man) because he looks like a 'big boy' already - probably because of his hair (my husby was a lil mad at me cos I gave Chardon a haircut - his 1st haircut & quite a bad one I guess)...in KadazanDusun we called him 'pindik-pindik tagap' (haha). As his mommy - I think he's the cutest & the most adorable 'orang tua kecil'. Loved him too much!

Go Pixie?

I had a haircut about two weeks ago...but nope not this Emma Watson's (pic above) pixie cut. I got fed up with my hair which was too long...so I had a shoulder length-layered trim. I still have those curly locks though but it's okay - good to give volume to my hair. One day soon - I really would want to go for this Emma Watson (she's the actress who starred as Hermoine in Harry Potter) new pixie do...don't you think she looks lovely with this hair? Perhaps I should slim down a little bit first then this pixie cut will look good on me - ha...we'll just have to wait & see then!

Shucks, if I knew about a public non-profit organization called 'Locks of Love', which I just came across from the net, I would donate my hair to this organisation. (Locks Of Love is an organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the US and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide would help to restore these children's self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.) I will support and donate my hair there one of these days after/if I had a haircut.


Anyway, it's nearly 4 months now since I gave birth to my baby son, Chardon and I'm going through some hormonal change...that is right now my hair has started to fall - lots of hair cos Chardon is also losing lots of his baby birth hair which is actually normal. And I guess I didn't consumed enough calcium during my pregnancy that I didn't lose a tooth but broke a tooth (half of it) which used to be my wisdom tooth - gosh that is so ugly!

Good Luck Hanky

I've been using this hanky for awhile - before & after giving birth to my 2nd child last April 2010. It's called Inu-hariko (which means papier-mache dog) & I bought it for only RM5 at Daiso Japan store. I liked the description stated on it's plastic cover - it says "Inu-hariko is the charm for protection. A charm believed to offer protection for a safe birth & good luck for babies". Nice eh? And it's a cute & good gift for a baby shower. And I did have a safe birth & want to believe/see what good luck will bring upon my baby Chardon. There are a few other similar good luck hankies but I particularly want to keep this in my bag wherever I go.

Just to add...during my hospitalization for 2 weeks before Chardon's birth in April, since I was too bored and had lots of time to kill - I doodled this on my notebook. I've got nothing else to do except read mags my husby brought from home and doodling - as to prevent myself from losing my sanity (ha!)

My Baby Son - Chardon Tristan Zorab

This is Baby Chardon's birth story....

After admitted for 2 weeks @ Likas Hospital for Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH) or pretty known as pre-eclampsia, I finally safely delivered my 2nd child - And yes! He's a beautiful baby boy born on 28 April 2010 @ 11:26pm via c-sect operation. I named him Chardon Tristan Zorab (the name Chardon is taken from the Native American - I love that name, sounds unique). It took me a few days to think of his 2nd name and I thought Tristan ryhmes well with Chardon. Giving birth to him at only 37 weeks 6 days (2 weeks before my supposely EDD on 13 May), his weight was only 2.55kg.

My elective c-sect delivery was scheduled on 29 April but due to a medical error that day...that a nurse forgot to give me my med called 'nefidifine' (a hypertension drug and my so called bestfriend for that 2 weeks cos it helps stabilize my blood pressure and which I kind of got addicted to it) caused me to have hypertension crisis and had to undergo an emergency delivery a day earlier. I had needles for infusions to go through both my hands - just had to bear the pain..gosh! Seriously gave me lessons to take care of my body after this. I don't think I wanna go through the same experience again - ever..although less traumatic. I'm just one of those unfortunate mothers out there with PIH. The surgery lasted less than 30 minutes I guess...and thank God no blood transfusion needed which got me worried, so it was safe. Hearing my baby cry is the most happiest moment of my life (same goes during Carmen's birth) and they even let me kiss my baby. It was cool to see those young surgeons wearing those blue scrubs...reminds me of Grey's Anatomy (ha!). They took care of me well during my stay - no bad complaints from me on their services except the toilets are always dirty.

Anyway, the most traumatic time for me was when Chardon at day 3, had hypoglycemia and had to be admitted to the Neonatal ICU (Level 2) and after 1 day his condition got stable. Seeing he also had needles on his hand - I cried! But then he had to be treated for neonatal jaundice for another 2 days - I had to stay another week at the hospital which felt like a 2nd home already. I just can't wait to get home and take a warm shower.

Today..my baby son is exactly 2 months old and he now weighs about 4.5kg and I'm quite thankful for a few things:

1) I supplemented Chardon with Wyett's S26-Gold milk - costly but I think it's one of those best milk (Likas Hospital uses the same brand as well) . I do breastfeed him too, so let's say he got the best of both worlds;

2) 'Baby Organic Bean Sprouts' pillow (bantal senang hati) from Babylove - it really helps to reduce baby's startled shocks. Chardon sleeps well most of the time with the pillow on his chest or tummy. Carmen didn't have this during her time (kesian);

3) Some great lullaby music - with the likes of Jewel's 'Lullaby' Album, the classicals of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms & Tchaikowsky (my fav composer) to help lull Chardon to relax and sleep. I believe music plays an important role in the development, well being and mental state of babies both in the womb & after birth. And oh ya...I also digged my Korean 'Winter Sonata's' music soundtrack from my CD collection - it helps sooths too;

4) I befriended some mothers during my hospitalization and we still keep in touch till today - through FB!

5) And of course for the love and moral support from my family and friends (especially my boss)!

Well..these are just a short part of my antenatal and postnatal experiences...if I go on sharing I'm sure you'll be bored to death. I admit that I do get abit of those 'baby blues' during my confinement period but I'm okay now...I guess it's normal for any mothers. Chardon is quite a tough baby to take care of - he cries & possets alot and very, very clingy to me.

Will be back to work on 1st July...and I'm sure I will be missing my Chardon so badly during the day..sigh:(

Eu Yan Sang's Bo Ying Compound - effectively prevents pediatric illnesses such as vomiting, crying at night, fever, cold and cough and keeps children healthy & active. Since it's suitable for newborn babies, and because Chardon cries & possets/vomits alot during his 1st month, I tried giving him this:

My handmade baby mobile....did this while Chardon's asleep. Dug out all the pretty things and ribbons that I could from my artsy fartsy box to put this together...I don't think it's colouful and big enough to stimulate the baby's vision but it's better than nothing.

Short hiatus

I'm currently on confinement period and having 2 months maternity leave...this personal journal will be temporarily quiet. But I'll be back and update you about my antenatal and postnatal experience.

By the way, my baby boy's name is Chardon Tristan Zorab. Will post up pictures of him soon ya!
