The Story of Pao / Beautiful Vietnam

Last night I watched a very warm and sophisticated Vietnamese movie "The Story of Pao" at Astro's Kirana Channel, about a young ethnic Hmong woman named Pao who sets off to find her mother. The story develops the concept of love from different points of view, both traditional and modern, and seeks to share an intimate look at Vietnam and the Hmong people. The magnificent mountain ranges of Northwest Vietnam, engulfed year-round in an immense veil of fog, provide a rich cinematic setting for this vivid and moving film. This movie won a few film awards such as the Special Jury Award at the Asia Film Festival in 2006 and suppose to be nominated in the 2007 Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) in the Best Foreign Film category (if I'm not mistaken lah). The music in the film is uniquely great. Check out the trailer here:

What interest me most about this movie is that it shows the beautiful part of Vietnam - the highlands of Sapa and the culture of the Hmong Tribes...just fascinates me! I would really love to go there and live with the locals for a few days..I can already imagine the adventure...glad that my sister Deb might organise a trip to Sapa someday/sometime soon.

The magnificient scenery of Sapa

The Hmong people in their colorful costumes...I like...I want!

Anyways, I'm still recuperating from this irritating cough (it's been two weeks) but I still have the heart to eat ice-cream from Karamell Almondo, the newest soft ice cream concept bar in town. Strange that I'm recovering already after eating them...and then I'm off to buy Slumdog Millionaire's movie soundtrack and probably buy a Korean movie or drama to watch for the weekend.

Need a good nap & happy smiles

I barely have enough sleep or simply could'nt sleep well this week....CJ is back to her old self again....waking up in the wee hours of the night/day. She's full of imagination...so I think she dreams alot and it happens almost every night. So what I really need now (how I wish) is to have a good/wonderful/satisfying nap and then smiling all day long (ha!) I wish they had a Japanese style relaxation space for people to take a short nap during the lunch hour here in KK.

Anyways...that's just some bla-bla to update people a little bit. To put happy smiles on mine and probably your face...here's an interesting fish gadget by Adam Bowman (aBowman). I think this is really cool stuffs. If you lurve IT or gadget stuffs, check him out.

These are hungry little fishes....click on to the screen to feed them. They will even follow your cursor waiting for you to feed them (only on the screen).

Or if you want a pet hamster to keep you company, you may click here to get one. Don't you think abowman is genius?

Well, I'll also will leave you with some lovely and maybe ridiculously silly quotes that I took from my fav blog (Creature Comforts) to have a happy day today. It's great to have happy thoughts always even if you have some depressing or stressful times at work or in life...brings out more of the positive side of you.

More from me later....

Quite back on track

Felt so dead boring last week...our internet line was down for a few days (not sure if it's because of our very old-fashioned modem or the server was badly affected due to some upgrading works going on?????) After tired of complaining to TM...our office finally decided to change/upgrade our modem & router to the latest brand there is that's in the market right now...going wireless lah konon...it's time for a change...we should have done it before.

I had a very bad cold last Thursday...stuck in bed with high fever and now with a terrible dry cough...just hope my Carmen will not catch this virus bug....thank God right now, she's still ok.

Anyways, I bought Stacy's debut album "Aku Stacy" to get myself back on track...I need to listen to some upbeat music at the moment...to be inspired to write some songs. The album has 7 tracks and I think 'Gagap' is a cool song...I like! Another Sabahan talent to be proud of!
