My random book excerpt #1

After my daily reads of my fav illustrator, Keri Smith's blog 'Wish Jar Journal', I'm inspired to follow her footstep to just simply post anything extracted from a book, the papers, it could be a photograph or a photo art from a book/mag & etc. This could happen if I'm out of ideas what to say in my blog by simply extracting out some short but interesting piece of article/photo from a book or mag - at least to update or post something in here everyday or thrice a week.

One example I got from 'Wish Jar Journal' is this...Keri's random book excerpt #38 which I liked. She extracted it from a book (I guess) "Wandering" by Herman Hesse.

I also liked the fact that she often post nice quotes such as....
To write: to try meticulously to retain something, to cause something to survive; to wrest a few precises scraps from the void as it grows, to leave somewhere a furrow, a trace, a mark or a few signs - By George Perec.

So I'm gonna start today my very 1st random book excerpt:

I extracted a picture of an art called 'Look Closer' by Regina Cross from a lovely 2010 organiser - a Homage to African-American Artists (I guess because of Obama's reign as US President) given by an associate from the US Embassy in KL.

What the year of the Tiger holds for me....

I was born in the year of the Dragon, and I read an article from the papers for those who was born in the year of the Dragon - here's what to expect and the things to watch out for in 2010 (year of the Tiger):

Dragon has water, hence will have money. It's a year of challenges but it will be good and smooth if he/she can manage his/her money.

He/she will have to avoid yin places like hospitals and funerals, avoid watching eclipses of the sun and moon.

Tap the energy of the full moon by doing exercises within its view. Wear a jade monkey, jade snake, smooth sailing beads and Ba Gua beads to stay on a smooth path.

About avoiding places like hospitals....being pregnant and giving birth this year, I guess that's not possible...that's the only most visited place I go to these days. And I'm pretty glad my baby will be born in the year of the Tiger (both Carmen and her daddy were born in the year of the Dog). I also read that people born in any specific year are believed to take on the characteristics of the animals.

Tigers are physically strong, independent and bold. People born in the year of the tiger are friendly but they also are short tempered and often take risks in their hunt for excitement. They seek attention and power too and often see themselves as a protector of the weak, so they are not afraid to speak up on any issue that they don't approve of. They are natural leaders who perform their best in positions of power and authority. Tiger people are generally charismatic and are popular but they are most compatible with people born under the signs of the horse, dog and dragons. (Yeah...the four of us - my husby, Carmen, the new baby on the way and myself are compatible and would get along just fine then)

Anyways, let's all have a tigerific year - happy, healthy and prosperous!

The Notebook Collector

Yes...I collect notebooks and I go nuts about them! So if you thought of giving me a gift, token or something, just get me a pretty notebook ya haha:) I've uploaded some photos of my collection on FB today for fun. It's one of my biggest addiction...can't stop buying them when I sees some cute/pretty notebooks...small or big and mostly cheap (or affordable)...but if it's a bit costly...I dare sacrifice my $...ya serious...my fetish for notebooks is that bad. I used some of them to write down my plans for the day and a few turned into scrapbooks.

Well...here are some of my collections:

I even bought some mini notebooks on Disney's princesses and 'buku 555' (buku hutang)...who knows I can't find those anymore next time.

Here's my favourite ones:

One of my scrapbook:

Carmen's scrapbook...I kept her baby hair here:

And not forgetting my most precious...my very 1st moleskine notebook (don't laugh..I never can afford one before). A friend was so kind and generous enough to buy me this pretty costly legendary notebook for my birthday last X'mas eve. (Picasso and I think Van Gogh too, Ernest Hemingway & other great personalities uses them). If you like to know more about Moleskine notebooks - read here.

Just sharing with you people out there what I love...inspired?

What a Tribute!

I didn't really get to watch the recent 2010 Grammy Awards in full because I just don't know what happen to my Astro's Starworld channel - poor signal that day (shucks!). But anyways, thanks to Youtube:) The best part is to watch the performance of 'The Earth Song' by Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson & Usher in 3D for the first time at the Grammys and of course watching the beautiful tribute for MJ by his kids, Prince Michael and Paris and to receive the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for their daddy. Although it was short but touching. Watch this:

"Our father was always concerned about the planet and humanity.
Through all his hard work and dedication, he has helped through many charities and donated to all of them.
Through all his songs, the message was simple: love.
We will continue to spread his message and help the world.
Thank you.
We love you Daddy." -Prince Michael Jackson

'The Earth Song' performance (I wish I could sing this song up there with them...haha in my dreams lah)

Start now - share your love and help heal the world!
