Tuaran's Tamu Day

I liked going to the tamu (open air market / local bazaar) especially Tamparuli on every Wednesday and Tuaran on Sunday..but only whenever I have the time. But this time I wanna just blog about it...maybe share to the world how our tamu in Sabah actually looked like.

First stop (recommended) is to eat the famous 'Rojak' at Kedai Kopi Yung Siong. The soto ayam there is also well known...you can see why b'cos the restaurant is always full of people, most of the time you have to wait till there's a table empty or even have to share a table with others.

A blind old man playing the harmonica...at least he's not begging for not doing nothing...he plays pretty good actually.

This is some kind of a traditional medicine called the Bunga Batu or Nanas Batu or Kembang Setahun which its more well known in the olden days. The benefits after you boil and drink it - it can cure diabetes, hypertension, gastric, constipation, kidney problems, even 'menguatkan tenaga batin' and etc.

I even manage to see for the 1st time a bomoh inserting a tiny needle called the 'Susuk' into one of these 40 something year old woman's forehead and see it disappear before my eyes....and after that overheard him giving some advise what to and what not to do. Somehow Interesting...but I'm not that surprise to know some women these days sanggup go through all these susuk thing, plastic surgery, botox etc in order to keep their husband.

People even sell chicken and other pet animals

Prayer tools?

Another kampung trip

Carmen was excited when we reached our kampung home at Kg. Rani, Tenghilan yesterday. She played too hard and too much with Chrissie's (younger sis) new kittens, coming in and out from all the four rooms and running around the living room....that she slept so well and soundly last night without having her dinner and milk. I think I should bring her more often to the kampung, Carmen would have lot's of fun there and grandma is happy! Another new experience for her today...walking along the pathways in the paddy fields nearby. But today was damn humid.

A view of Mt. Kinabalu in the distance before reaching our kampung home

CJ loves animals especially cats or little kitties which is good and healthy

My funny little girl

I was surprise to find that my brother posted some nice and funny and I have to add CUTE photos of my Carmen and nephew Delbert on his blog - I SO love this shots!!!!

Anyways, you have to laugh more often so you can live longer..
Study shows optimists live about 10 years longer than pessimists. So laugh more - laughter is a good, enjoyable way to reduce stress, improve pain tolerance and boost your natural defences. Need to recall how the expression of happiness goes? Just watch your children as they giggle and laugh over simple pleasures.

It's 7:30pm now, need to get out of the office quick...having some goose bumps and eery feeling already and wait for Deb to pick me up from her piano teachings. So I'll leave you entertain with 6 years old Brit Connie Talbot (just bought her CD - love it too!) She's just an amazing talent. I want my Carmen to be like her..really:)

Feeling crafty but lack of time

The inspiration is always there but I just can't find the right time to do my art projects which I wanted to do so badly. Crafting is my real passion and doing something creative makes me happy...totally. I'm an absolute hard chore DIY freak!

I need to do something out of this (a must to do project this weekend).....and I'll be glad to share you the outcome later ya:P

How I wish I could have this kind of inspiration work space at home....

or perhaps to have my own gifts and crafts cum boutique cum music store selling my range of greeting cards, jewellery & clothing line one day (I said one day okay) would be great and a dream come true.....some ideas here how my dream store would look like (as to motivate myself).....maybe...how I wish, but I'll just keep dreaming...

Share more later....

What will happen to us if.....

Climate change or global warming is a big issue right now. If we don't start saving our earth, I think most of you knows what's the probable impact on us, our landscapes and ecosytems. Just imagine all those beautiful animals like the bengal tigers last home could drown due to rising sea levels, polar bears are going hungry as they wait on land for the ice to re-form in autumn and allow them back onto their marine hunting grounds, and mountain gorillas will lose their forests and have nowhere to go....oh my...we can prevent this. Fuyoh...do I sound like an environmentalist (perasan)?....actually I was emotionally moved and feel a lil distressed after watching 11th Hour (narrated by actor Leonardo Dicaprio - check trailer below). Well...it's all true...we should all set out what we can do to prevent this climatic change or else all human kind will suffer the worst.

Here's some 10 tips to save the world and help stop climate change:
1. Save energy in the house -turn your thermostat down a degree or two, wear jumpers indoors, snuggle under a blanket when watching TV or invest in a high tog duvet. Insulate your house – partially block air vents with newspaper, use insulating tape around doors, use draught excluders, clingfilm on windows, foil behind radiators, block keyholes and unused letterboxes. Change your lightbulbs to energy saving ones. Only boil the amount of water you need in the kettle, and use a cover on saucepans when boiling. Boil the kettle to wash up, rather than running the tap – save water and energy!
2. Stop flying -do domestic holiday by road or take the train
3. Get a bike, not a car, or use public transport.
4. Lobby your MP to push the recently announced climate change bill, block airport expansion and support renewable
energy schemes.
5. Reduce your food miles – shop local!
6. Plant a tree. Or even better, get together with friends or a community group and plant lots of trees! Find a suitable site and
check with the local Council before planting!
7. Reduce the amount of plastic bags, packaging and useless tat that you buy. Reuse what you have – plastic bags for rubbish,
receipts as scrap paper, cereal boxes as file dividers. Recycle what you have left!
8. Make do and mend – instead of buying a new purse, top or pair of jeans, repair or customise what you already have.
9. Before you buy anything, think – do I need this? Where was it made? Who made it? What is it made from? Can I recycle it
afterwards?
10. Talk to as many people as possible about climate change, sustainability and caring for the environment. One person makes a bit of a difference, but lots of people can make more!

I know it's pretty tough sometimes to practise all these but we could at least TRY! We could help to make a difference and see something happen for the better.

Check out these two cool videos (my favourites) on global warming/save the world kinda thing....

A Beautiful Lie by Hollywood actor Jared Leto with his band 30 Seconds to Mars (sorry lyrics not available):

4 Minutes by Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake & Timbaland:

(Timbaland:)
I'm outta time and all I got is 4 minutes (8x)
Come on....Yeah
Break down.....Come on

(Madonna:)
Come on boy
I've been waiting for somebody
To pick up my stroll

(Justin:)
Well don't waste time
Give me a sign
Tell me how you wanna roll

(Madonna:)
I want somebody to speed it up for me
Then take it down slow
There's enough room for both

(Justin:)
Well, I can handle that
You just gotta show me where it's at
Are you ready to go (Are you ready to go)

(Madonna & Justin:)
If you want it
You already got it
If you thought it
It better be what you want
If you feel it
It must be real just
Say the word and imma give you what you want

Chorus:
(Madonna & Justin:)
Time is waiting
We only got 4 minutes to save the world
No hesitating
Grab a boy
Grab a girl
Time is waiting
We only got 4 minutes to save the world
No hesitating
We only got 4 minutes, 4 minutes

(Madonna & Justin:)
Keep it up, keep it up, don't be a pri, hey Madonna, uh
You gotta get in line, hop
Tick tock tick tock tick tock
That's right, keep it up, keep it up, don't be a pri, hey Madonna, uh
You gotta get in line, hop
Tick tock tick tock tick tock

(Madonna:)
Sometimes I think what I need is a you intervention, yeah

(Justin:)
And you know I can tell that you like it
And that it's good, by the way that you move, ooh, hey

(Madonna:)
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, yeah

(Justin:)
But if I die tonight
At least I can say I did what I wanted to do
Tell me, how bout you?

(Madonna & Justin:)
If you want it
You already got it
If you thought it
It better be what you want
If you feel it
It must be real just
Say the word and imma give you what you want

(Timbaland:)
Breakdown.....Yeah
(tick tock tick tock tick tock)
Yeah, uh huh
(tick tock tick tock tick tock)
I only got 4 minutes to save the world

So people....come let's do it....let us save our world for our future generations!

Friday the 13

Some people usually thinks that Friday the 13 is a bad luck day. I'm normally not that superstitious but I'll be careful in whatever I do and notice what's going on around me on this very day. My colleague and I escaped a lil time off before our lunch hour to watch M. Night Shyamalan's 'The Happening' which start showing today on cinema. I don't normally fancy Shyamalan movies except The Sixth Sense cos most of his endings left us wondering if the hero saved the world or is that all? Gosh...it's another movie of his again with no proper conclusion and kept us guessing what's next...is there gonna be sequel? My rating: 4 out of 10

Synopsis: A lightning-paced, heart-pounding paranoid thriller about a family on the run from an inexplicable and unstoppable event that threatens not only humankind . . . but the most basic human instinct of them all: survival.

It begins with no clear warning. It seems to come out of nowhere. In a matter of minutes, episodes of strange, chilling deaths that defy reason and boggle the mind in their shocking destructiveness, erupt in major American cities. What is causing this sudden, total breakdown of human behavior? Is it some kind of new terrorist attack, an experiment gone wrong, a diabolical toxic weapon, an out-of-control virus? Is it being transmitted by air, by water . . . how?

For Philadelphia high school science teacher Elliot Moore (Mark Walberg) what matters most is finding a way to escape the mysterious and deadly phenomenon. Though he and his wife Alma (Zooey Deshanel) are in the midst of a marital crisis, they hit the road, first by train, then by car, with Elliot’s math teacher friend Julian (John Leguizamo) and his 8 year-old daughter Jess (Ashlyn Sanchez), heading for the Pennsylvania farmlands where they hope they’ll be out of reach of the grisly, ever-growing attacks. Yet it soon becomes clear that no one – and nowhere – is safe. This terrifying, invisible killer cannot be outrun. It is only when Elliot begins to discover the true nature of what is lurking out there – and just what has unleashed this force that threatens the future of humanity -- that he discovers a sliver of hope that his fragile family might be able to escape what is happening.

This June...from all those latest action packed movies like Indiana Jones and Iron Man (which I'll watch later)...I instead watched two romantic comedies 'Apa Kata Hati' and 'Made of Honor' (cos I loved Mr McDreamy...Patrick Dempsey). My ratings for these movies is so so only...which means okay lah.

I just wanna see how this rocker performs his character in Apa Kata Hati...so obvious I think you can even guess who is he?

Movies to look forward to: Wanted (Angelina Jolie) and The Love Guru (Mike Myers)

Alright people....u take care now....hope no bad luck today...palis-palis!

Cheers from Mama Rock

Kaamatan weekend trip

Tinggi-tinggi Gunung Kinabalu....ahaa...I enjoyed my recent Kaamatan hols cos I spent the weekend with my whole family up the mountain side. We slept at one of the mountain resthouse in Kundasang on Kaamatan eve and the next day we visited Sabah Tea Garden and Poring Hot Spring.

Early Friday morning (30 May), we siblings and I brought my Carmen with me drove to Desa Cattle just to take great shots of Mt. Kinabalu....it was beautiful and I just love how cold it is at around 6am.

We suppose to celebrate Carmen's 2nd birthday (belated) there but I learnt my lesson well...that is not to put off any cakes till tomorrow....see this yummy Chocolate Indulgence Cake from Secret Recipe melted and turned ugly. I felt so bad not getting Carmen to blow her two candles. But anyway...the cake still tasted good.

Off to Sabah Tea Garden at Nalapak, Ranau

Kamunsu Hill

This is where the mountain spot is but no sight of Mt. Kinabalu pun...two cloudy...Shissh!

At the end of the day, we family enjoyed our togetherness. Wished we could do some trips like this more often. Love them all! Noticed Carmen in the pic holding her two candles that she suppose to blow from her birthday cake.
