My Kampung - Rani, Tenghilan

Visited my grandma at my kampung (village) at Rani, Tenghilan (before Kota Belud) during the last CNY holidays...I missed to pulang kampung and eat traditional kampung food like the 'bosou' but most of all I love the beautiful landscape surrounding our family's kampung home like the paddy fields, the mini stream and there's even a little view of Mt. Kinabalu at the background as if like hiding behind the hills. Carmen enjoys running around the front yard.

Looking at the view through the window. 'No Fear Just Faith'...I think that's my younger sis, Diane Chrissie's vandalism act when she was still a minor...I think she's pretty naughty at that time. By the way, she lives with my grandma since she was 4 or 6 months old and she grew up in this kampung. She's a tough girl..am proud of her.

A bridge made of bamboos..the villagers still used them even to this modern day to get to the paddy fields to plant paddy and harvest. This bridge is built on our land to our paddy fields.

This is how the paddy fields looked like after the harvest in last Dec 07 and soon the villagers will start to plant paddy again after using buffalos to crush the soils.

Carmen enjoyed her visit to the Kampung

CJ7

Went out before my usual lunch hour break (escape lah konon) to watch CJ7 with Florieta, another comedy film directed by funny man Stephen Chow, whom also stars in it. And again the movie featured Chow's trademark slapstick antics which is hiliariously funny and then there were some emotional scenes that I cried and then laugh and then cried and then laugh again...it was a crazy movie and I enjoyed it so much that I bought the dvd (ciplak)...till now I still ketawa-ketawa satu orang like gila bayang in front of my computer while doing some work..whenever I think of this movie. It's funny I tell you...if you haven't watch it yet..you should! After we went out of the cinema...our eyes jadi bengkak dah from laughing too much and crying at the same time...sakit perut pun ada because of the laughing.

This kid actor's acting is superb...no doubt he would be nominated for best actor at the Hong Kong's version of the Academy Award and win. And that animated CJ7 looked so real for a toy pet...I really hope there's CJ7 collectibles like stuff dolls or keychains alike soon and I will go crazy over it. It's so damn cute!

It's about: Ti (Stephen Chow) is a poor father who works all day, everyday at a construction site to make sure his son Dicky Chow (Xu Jian) can attend an elite private school. Despite his father's good intentions to give his son the opportunities he never had, Dicky, with his dirty and tattered clothes and none of the "cool" toys stands out from his schoolmates like a sore thumb. Ti can't afford to buy Dicky any expensive toys and goes to the best place he knows to get new stuff for Dicky - the junk yard! While out "shopping" for a new toy for his son, Ti finds a mysterious orb and brings it home for Dicky to play with. To his surprise and disbelief, the orb reveals itself to Dicky as a bizarre "pet" with extraordinary powers. Armed with his CJ7 Dicky seizes this chance to overcome his poor background and shabby clothes and impress his fellow schoolmates for the first time in his life. But CJ7 has other ideas and when Dicky brings it to class... chaos ensues.

One of my favourite movie in 2008!

Enchanted

Watched this movie because of Mr McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey of Grey's Anatomy) actually...another boring story for me but it could suit the kids taste though. My rating - 4 out of 10. I'm starting to get fed up of James Marsden..suddenly...don't know why, maybe because of his too much of a sweet face looks or wide smile. No movie for me that has Marden on it...at least for now minus his coolness in the X-Men trilogy lah.

Here's the story pitch: In an animated fairy tale world, a young girl meets and falls in love with the handsome prince of her dreams. News of this romance upsets the prince’s mother, the evil queen, who uses her black magic to send the girl hurtling out of the animated world into the one place in the universe where there is no true love: modern day Manhattan. The now-real girl has to survive in New York City and find her way home again to her true love. Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Susan Sarandon star.

Addicted

I've been eating this Mee Halus Goreng for breakfast like...Oh no...everyday. It looks common but it tasted so good that I'm so addicted to it and I must have it for my breakfast...and again I'm still addicted to caffein (after trying to quit for a few weeks) that I can't resist drinking Neslo or Nestea (Nescafe + Milo or 3 in 1 Boh Tea) to keep myself awake and energise my system in the morning. I know this sounds very unhealthy especially having fried food for meals everyday so I seriously need self-discipline to control my diet....please mama! I'll try to eat healthy starting today...hopefully!

Ehem...another addiction - can't stop myself from buying ciplaks music cd and dvd movies. I consider it as one of my weakness..not that I do not support the slogan 'BELILAH YANG ORIGINAL' but ori copies are way too expensive.

Soulful Amy Winehouse

Love is a Losing Game is one of my fav jazz number from Amy.

Bought Amy Winehouse's album last month because I thought her soulful/jazzy music and voice is unique (for a white singer) and is pretty my kind of taste (some songs only). One would taught that the singer of 'Rehab' is black. By listening to her vocal and songs..my prediction of Amy is that she would grab a few grammys for her album and Rehab as Record & Song of the Year...and I predicted well enough that she did dominate the Grammys at the recent 50th Grammy Awards and she made history for herself to be the first ever British female artist to win 5 Grammys (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album) in one night. Her talents and style is so original that there's just one and only Amy Winehouse (notice her trademark - long black hair styled into a '60s-inspired beehive and extreme black eyeliner). Amy on songwriting (btw, she wrote her own songs): "Songwriting is like keeping a journal. If I didn't have this medium to get my experiences across, I would be lost". But I do hope she could pull herself together and not waste her already growing fame and life to drug abuse.

Belated V-Day

I forgot to post about it yesterday that it was Valentines Day. I'm pretty sure some of you were showered with flowers, gifts, romantic lunches, candlelight dinners blah..blah and so on. Sad to say that I no longer practise those lovey-dovey kind of stuffs cos the V-day have become too commercialised and it's not cheap to buy all those hearty gifts you know...even the man I married didn't give me any gifts on V-day..not even red roses...so I might as well don't buy him anything...muahaha. That husby of mine used to be incurably romantic and I remembered he stole some red roses from a neighbour's garden years ago to give me on Valentines..silly. Anyways, met up with my two friends - the Flos (Florieta and Florence). One of them remained single after a failed relationship and the other has a boyfriend who don't really care that it's the V-day. I suggested to them that we go buy ourselves something nice today...for our own treat and prefers this day as LOVE MYSELF day instead of Valentine. I didn't exactly get something I like except for a nice necklace at a discounted price at one of the boutique at Warisan Square but since Florieta liked the necklace so much and it was the only one left, so I let her buy it as to make her happy.

So enough about this sweet craps.

I'm glad I did come back to those flea market stalls at Warisan Square before CNY holidays before the vendors from China goes back to Shanghai and bought these collectible stuffs. I would like to try my luck to sell these bracelets on ebay..do you think some gurlies out there might buy them? Right now I'm starting to collect any tiny and cute stuffs on babies or mother and child like this China clay doll.

Anyways...happy belated Valentines Day!

Dua Dunia Satu Cinta

That's the love theme of one of my favourite Malaysian singer, Ning Baizura and Omar Sharif Christopher whom had just nikah last 31 Jan 2008. Watched the special coverage of their kampung theme wedding at 'Kampung Nekmat' on Astro Ria yesterday evening. Ning has been one of my inspiration in music and I think her unique vocal is one of a kind. I have most of her albums in my personal collection. I wanted to blog about her wedding because particularly I just love this two beautiful photos of the couple taken by Saiful Nang, a well known photographer. (Click on his name and check out his expertise..remarkable I would say!) If you love Ning and would like to know more about her wedding, check out 'Mr Manager' blog (Ning's manager - Vernon Kedit Jolly).

Family Trip

I had a cool weekend trip with my family last Saturday at Mt. Kinabalu National Park and Mesilau Nature Resort. It was my CJ's 1st trip up the mountain side. Dad came back just for the CNY holidays..he was home for 4 days only...besides spending short time with the family..he has to complete some unfinish work at home that my mom was nagging non-stop about. What a hero!

Anyways, we family had a great time although the weather was not in a good mood that day...the sun was smiling for awhile and then the sky became gloomy and rain came pouring and misty..not even a glimpse of Mt. Kinabalu can be seen. But we managed to take some nice family photos. Here's a few of them (some taken from my bro Disney's gallery).
