Art Project #3 & some inspiration

I've motivated my mood to be inspired and to work on some creative art projects these past two weeks such as these simple junkies. This is my real passion - I LOVE DOING THIS! Although I did this for fun and it feels great seeing & knowing what you have done after that - either its pretty or ugly...the most important is just being plain creative. Everyone can be creative!

No. 1 project: Handmade Notebooks

The 1st notebook I did is a "Love Urself Mini Book" (haha) (see pics: front, inside and back cover)...a little bit cincai because I memang cincai while doing it (ha)...so i guess it didn't turn out good....but good enough for scribbling and as 'buku rojak' lah.

Later...I did another two notebooks that looks better. I used recycled and leftover blank coloured papers from the office...instead of throwing, recycling is even better.

No. 2 Project: Mini art boxes / candy boxes (made out of matchbox/kotak macis)

I also love this so called tiny 'mint tin' which is very useful to keep little stuffs like paper clips, paper tacks and even staples. What a cutie!

I also adores this colourful paper tacks. I've got to buy more of this and they have few other cool designs. Got them from Mini Toons shop at 1Borneo Hypermall.

For my daily INSPIRATION, I got it from two of my fav creative blogs - decor8 & Creative Comfort. They just lashed out the creativity in me.

What's cooking....

Just recently and 'suddenly' my husby Zo loves to cook and been testing his cooking skills and then kind of showing off to me about it. I think and admit that he cooks better than me (muahaaha). I prefer eating his cooking than mine. I became the so called 'food taster' of these 2 dishes he cooked (of course he pakai recipe orang that he took from the net & newspaperlah) a few weeks ago.

1st dish is 'Fortune Fish Melody':

Method:
Wash the red dates and shred into small pieces, soak dried day lily in water for two hours and wash. Tie dried day lily into knobs and rinse. Soak ear fungus for 30 minutes, wash and cut into small pieces.

Clean the Garoupa and dry it with a towel. Place the fish on a plate, steam it with boiling water for five minutes.

Ingredients:
Grand Garoupa – 1 kg
Red dates – 20g
Dried Day Lily – 20g
Ear Fungus – 10g

Take it out, drain away the gravy, then add pieces of red dates and dried day lily on top of the fish. Continue to steam for another 8 to 10 minutes

Seasoning:
Oyster Sauce – 2 tbsp
Cooking Oil – 1 tbsp
Honey – 1 tbsp
Water – ½ Cup

Heat the wok, add seasoning sauce with low heat. When the mixture boils, pour it onto the fish. Serve hot.

And 2nd dish is 'Fried Bangus Fritters'....hahaha....saja-saja bagi nama...actually we both don't know the exact name of it...but for sure we know that it is a Philipino Cuisine. I did the creamy mayo sauce only.

Ingredients:

1 whole bangus (white fish), about ¾ kilo
1 tbsp. of finely minced garlic
2 onions, finely chopped
2 skinless sweet pimiento (canned), finely chopped
1 tsp. of finely chopped parsley
3 slices of bread
1/8 c. of milk
1 egg beaten
Salt and pepper to taste
½ c. of cooking oil

How to :

Steam or boil bangus. Cool. Pick the bones. Flake the meat.

Tear bread slices into very small pieces or grate in the blender. Pour milk over bread and mash. Mix all of the ingredients together. Form into small logs, about 3” in length and 1” in diameter.

Heat skillet (frying pan). Pour in cooking oil. Heat until it starts to smoke. Set heat to medium-high. Fry fish logs in batches. Make sure that there is enough room in the skillet to roll them while cooking. Cook fish logs until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve with Creamy Garlic Mayo.

To make Creamy Garlic Mayo: Mix together ½ tsp. finely minced garlic, ½ c. or mayonnaise, ½ c. of milk, ¼ tsp. of finely chopped parsley, salt and pepper.

Both dishes tasted really good....keep up with the cooking dear!

Missed the 2009 Oscars

Damn...I missed watching the 81st Academy Awards (Oscars) last night except for the red carpet. I just bought Slumdog Millionaire's DVD today...so I'm gonna watch how good it is tonight. Two of my fav movies at the moment (charming and heartfelt) - Vicky Cristina Barcelonaand The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (I love the fact that life is not measured in time but in moments) did win some awards. Penelope Cruz hoped to bring an Oscar back to Spain and her dreams came true...she actually did a stunning performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona and luckily I managed to watch on youtube (before the academy claimed copyright on all the oscar's videos) of her giving her thank you speech, which was beautiful (even in her strong Spanish accent). And I adores A R Rahman as always, no doubt his music is world class! Now...I'm looking forward to watch The Reader and Milk.

Just to let you know too that I've updated and put up some old posts - Memories of SIE2008 & Eatin and Chillin out

Inspired lately and will share some updates......

Been tight up with so much work recently. I've just got over and done with organising a Briefing on Goods & Services Tax by PricewaterhouseCoopers last Thursday and looking forward to our Branch's Committee Meeting followed by lunch hosted by one of Suria Group's company tomorrow. Afterthat...I'll go yeah and phew! Despite the busy-ness, I've been inspired to do a little bit of art projects lately (finally) and I've been working on them during the nights after my Carmen has gone to bed. I'll share something about it soon.

Well, some more later...but right now need to get back to my inspiration.

An awesome book

I came across an interesting blog through my fav creative site decor8 that I like...another creative one of a kind named Danielle Thompson. She also owns a shop called Tiny Bazaar selling cool and amazing crafts that I would die for...inspiring! Anything to do with arts and crafts...you name it...I'll just go all out for it...either I buy it (but of course depends on its cuteness and price)or try to do something like it. In one of Danielle's post, she featured about a talented author and illustrator named Dallas Clayton whom just published a children book called "An Awesome Book". I think this is really an awesome book and the author himself is crazy and funny....check out this video of him promoting the book. Funny and I laughed.

Here's some images about the book taken from Danielle's blog.

I hope this book will land in our local bookstore soon...I'll have to go find it already, if not then order it. It is for my Carmen...I want her to be imaginative and full of dreams.

The most emotional moments in sports

Two nights ago, I watched my two fav sportsmen - Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer (gosh..they're so goodlooking!) faced each other again, this time at the Australian Open Tennis Championship 2009 Men Finals which lasted more than 5 hrs. Nadal won...no doubt that he's stronger and I just love his Nike's outfit. But the best part is, watching Federer sobbed real hard and it was hard not to cry with him too...I think this is one of the most emotional scene in sports and it's amazing to see the sight of one great champion comforting another great champion. I just heart them both!
