Kotobian Tadau Kaamatan (Happy Harvest Festival)

If you didn't hear from me...bla-bla-ing here for a few days that means I'm off for the Kaamatan holidays. It will be a long weekend. It's Harvest Festival for the Kadazandusun and Murut Community here in Sabah on May 30 & 31 (this is an info for the non-Sabahan & you may click here to know more about our 'Tadau Kaamatan' & here on how we dance the Sumazau). I'm a dusun and still thinking what are my plans for the Kaamatan weekend.

Anyways, would like to wish all Sabahans...especially the Kadazandusuns & Murut a BIG KOTOBIAN TADAU KAAMATAN KUMAA DOKOYU TOINSANAN! HAPPY HARVEST FESTIVAL! Remember don't moginum and drive.

Me doing the Unduk Ngadau wannabe pose and in my younger & slimmer days (at 17 & of course still single at that time) with my traditional Kadazandusun costume.

My sister Debbie and I harvesting paddy at the back of our Kampung home in Kg. Rani, Tenghilan.

I'm SO proud of my roots and being a Sabahan is cool! Aramaitiiiiii....

Take 6

Let's take 6 with me:

1) I love the month of May...especially whenever the Kaamatan (Harvest Festival)holidays comes around and besides that I love lurking for unique etnic stuffs at Kaamatan Bazaars. One of the bazaar, which they had it like annually prior to the Tadau Kaamatan is held at the Centrepoint Shopping Complex.

Here's what I've bought:
Just love the green shades...a green lil handbag with matching coin purse

Unique bracelet..just love the color

A handmade cloth hand purse (see how long it can tahan after I used it)

...and some cute collectible earrings (sorry no pics).

2) I received a sweet email from my husby on an inspirational video presentation "The Interview with God" and I heart the beautiful screen photos which you can also download as screensaver - COOL! They have other inspirational videos on their websites too (including Susan Boyle). But I adores this particular video that I have also copied and pasted on my blog (to watch, kindly check at the bottom of my blog's page)so I can read it as a reminder whenever I want to, you can do that too:) Although I'm so unholy and not really a rajin church goer but I still have that special spiritual relationship with God in my heart (only GOD knows)..wink^*

3) I'm inspired to write song and loving jazz music more and more and more! I'm SO inspired with the likes of Katie Melua and Zee Avi (a rising Malaysian singer-songwriter, guitarist & ukelele player, originally from Miri, Sarawak, and who got discovered from YouTube by an indie music label 'Brushfire Records, which is partly owned by Jack Johnson and now based in the US - lucky her!) The thing is I WANT TO write songs like these songs....

Nine Bicycles in Beijing by Katie Melua

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That's a fact,
It's a thing we can't deny
Like the fact that I will love you till I die.

We are twelve billion light years from the edge,
That's a guess,
No-one can ever say it's true
But I know that I will always be with you.

I'm warmed by the fire of your love everyday
So don't call me a liar,
Just believe everything that I say

There are six BILLION people in the world
More or less
and it makes me feel quite small
But you're the one I love the most of all

INTERLUDE
We're high on the wire
With the world in our sight
And I'll never tire,
Of the love that you give me every night

There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That's a Fact,
it's a thing we can't deny
Like the fact that I will love you till I die

And there are nine million bicycles in Beijing
And you know that I will love you till I die!

My Aphrodisiac is You by Katie Melua

Some people say
That oysters make you come on strong,
But I don’t buy it,
I don’t believe my diet turns me on.
Won’t take no pills,
That’s the last thing that I need to do,
I can’t deny it,
My aphrodisiac is you.
Alright, I could sniff some powdered rhino horn,
And go to bed in rubber gloves.
But I don’t need no stimulation,
Potions, balms or embrocation, I’m in love,
In other words:
Don’t smoke no grass,
Or opium from old Hong Kong,
That hubble-bubble
Just makes me see you double
All night long.
Don’t waste my time
With Spanish fly and roots to chew,
They cause me trouble,
Because my aphrodisiac is you.
Alright, I could sniff some powdered rhino horn,
And go to bed in rubber gloves.
But I don’t need no stimulation,
Potions, balms or embrocation, I’m in love,
In other words:
Some people like
To read the khama sutra first,
But I don’t need it
I think if I should read it
I’d be worse;
Don’t ask me why,
‘Cause baby, I ain’t got a clue.
I just concede it,
My aphrodisiac Is you.

Zee Avi's "Bitter Hear"

Sun rays come down as seen when they hit the ground,
Children spinning around till they fall down down down.
I wait for you: it's been two hours now,
You're still somewhere in town,
Your dinners getting cold.
I rest my case you are always this late,
And you know how much I hate waiting around 'round 'round,
Bitter heart, bitter heart tries to keep it all inside,
Bitter heart, bitter heart shadows will help you try to hide,
Bitter heart, my bitter heart is gettin' just a little fragile,
Bitter heart, bitter heart of mine.
And then you come and tell me the same reason as you did yesterday,
So tell me whats her name.
Doo doo da dum, doo doo da dum, doo doo doo doo doo doo da da dum dum, da da da da dum, da da da da dum, da da da da dum.
Bitter heart, bitter heart tries to keep it all inside
Bitter heart, bitter heart shadows will help you try to hide,
Bitter heart, my bitter heart is just getting a little fragile,
Bitter heart, bitter heart of mine, of mine, of mine, of mine, of mine, of mine.

4) I badly need a new hairdo! I want my new hairdo to be like Meg Ryan's cute kinky ringlet (as seen from her recent movie 'The Women').

I'm so fed up of bunning my hair like this all the time but I can't stop buying these cute hairclips & hairbands either

5) I yearn to go for an adventure (like I used to do in my younger days)

(a notebook made in China I guess (from my notebook collections)...I giggle when I read it, very the broken - this is sekadar gambar hiasan sahaja)

6)Movies to watch for the weekend
a) Wolverine

b) Two Lovers

c) Sparkle

That's my take 6 this time.

5 facts about me

I'm sharing here 5 secret facts about me (which may sound a lil silly, weird, unusual or anything you name it that can make you wanna say "so what?" or "whateva!") I do have lots of unimportant facts about me but I think 5 will do for now.....

1) I could be a little 'Obsessive Compulsive' at times (something like the 'Monica Geller' character in the comedy series 'Friends' - neat freak but still can be messy). I said 'a little' so that means I'm mild OC (HA!). I liked to see things being arranged in orderly manner, neat and clean but not necessary all the time. Sometimes I can be messy - I have too much things in my room but as long as they are piled up properly in one place and where I can easily finds them, so its okay. My brother used to tell me I'm not normal and I'm like Monica...hahaa..ya right.

2) Since I was a kid, I'm a collector of things aka 'Junk Collector' - I have a huge box of junks and I even keep them under my bed, from all kinds of notebooks, candy wrappers, fashion tags, stamps, stickers, paper bags and etc. I collect things that looks cool and interesting to keep. Who knows these stuffs could be valuable in 20 years time.

3) I used to own a pet turtle named 'Jet Li', a gift given by my then boyfriend and now my husband. It was fun and I thought of buying a turtle again....sometime this year perhaps.

4) Secretly witness the doctor and a few nurses did the C-Sect operation on me when I gave birth to CJ through the operation theater's lights (there's like a mirror surrounding it) cos they forgot to close the cloth over my face and I can't feel anything from the waist down. The operation lasted for 45 minutes and I kept saying 'God please be with me' cos I nearly passed out, could hardly breathe and of course scared. This is crazy...I appologize if this subject might effect you psycologically.

5) Likes eating bread spread with mayonaise and 'kaya' (westerners might think its ridiculous and probably disgusted cos Mayo is only meant for proper sandwiches and salad)

So that's it...whadya think about me now?

And what on earth is this lady doing here?

Happy Birthday Husby!

I know I seldom mention his name or about my husband in this blog. But today is his birthday which I nearly forgot (like I always did every year - what a bad wife:( a reminder on my HP just ting tong me like after 8am.

Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CARMEN'S DADDY / MY HUSBY ZORAB! He's 6 years my senior so he's not that very young anymore but age is just a number and he's one in a million - a truly dedicated father & husband that really counts. (rarely can find these qualities in men these days). And oh ya...I LOVE YOU TOO!

What I can do for him right this moment, is dedicate to him two cool love songs:

For once in my life by Michael Buble & Fiorello (cos for once in my life I married him)

For once in my life
I have someone who needs me
Someone I needed so long
For once unafraid
I can go where life leads me
And somehow I know I'll be strong

For once I can touch
What my heart used to dream of
Long before I knew
Ooh, ooh, ooh, someone like you
Would make my dreams come true

For once in my life
I won't let sorrow hurt me
Not like it's hurt me before, oh
For once I have something I know won't desert me
Cause I'm not alone anymore

For once I can say
This is mine, you can't take it
Long as I know I've got love I can make it
For once in my life
I've got someone who needs me
Mmm...hmm...hmm...

For once I can say
This is how you can't take it
Long as I know I've got love I can make it
For once in my life
I've got someone who needs me

Oh, yes, he does
I've got that someone who needs me
He told me this mornin? that he needed me
Mmm...mmm...I believe

Honey, I'm yours to keep..like forever! Here's your fav song ( I think...cos I've heard you mentioned before that you love this song) - I'm yours by John Mraz (this song is my ultimate fav too)

Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but your so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks, now I'm tryin to get back
before the cool done run out I'll be givin it my best test
and nothin's gonna stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

But I won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait
I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music at the moment people dance and sing with me
Were just 1 big family
And it's our godforsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved

So, i won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait i'm sure
there's no need to complicate our time is short
this is our fate
I'm yours

Scooch on over closer, dear
And I will nibble your ear

I've been spendin' way too long checkin' my tongue in the mirror
and bendin' over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
and so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I'd be sayin' is there ain't no better reason
to rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
it's what we aim to do
our name is our virtue

But I won't hesitate no more,
no more it cannot wait
I'm yours

well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la one big family
it's your god forsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved

open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la happy family
it's our god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved

it's our god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved
listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
ah, la peaceful melodies
it's you god forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved

I'll see you this evening!

Quickie Hi!

Just a quickie despite being a lil busy this week.

1) Attended our company's Committee Meeting at Sutera Harbour Resort (as usual, I'm the minutes taker) and we celebrated our Chairman's 80th Birthday (but he looks like he's still in his 60's - he's damn healthy and still going strong as an 80 year old & he's an Indian). So now I'm aspire to live longer like him - eat and live healthy! And not to forget - lots of exercise too, ha!

2) Shucks! Kris Allen won the AI crown instead of the guy with eyeliner & black nail polish - Adam Lambert. It's okay, Kris deserved to win too, I thought his performance last night was good as Adam.

3) I'm going jogging today...oh maybe just brisk walking.

Later from Mama Rock

Adam Lambert vs Kris Allen in the AI09 Finale

So it's gonna be Adam Lambert (of course - I knew it from the beginning) and Kris Allen in the American Idol's finale next week (just can't wait).

It doesnt matter if this guy is in (or not in ) the 'G' community but what matters most is he's damn talented and one-of-a kind performer/star. I liked Adam but frankly speaking, I would fancy buying Danny Gokey's debut album instead cos his voice is just beautiful to my ears.

Meanwhile enjoy my favorite Danny Gokey's beautiful rendition & version of 'You Are So Beautiful' (sorry no actual video of his performance at the last concert but I think this will do for now). I've always love this song but after Danny sang his version, I totally fall in love with this song all over again and with Danny too (aargh...why can't he be in the finale...WHY?!)

You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
Can't you see
Your everything I hoped for
Your everything I need
You are so beautiful to me

Such joy and happiness you bring
Such joy and happiness you bring
Like a dream
A guiding light that shines in the night
Heavens gift to me
You are so beautiful to me

Enjoy your weekend ya!

Happy Birthday to Carmen (12 May)

It's my little girl's 3rd birthday tomorrow, 12 May, and I'm taking the day off to spend time with her and prepare a mini birthday celebration for her and with just among us family members only. I will plan a bigger party for her when she's older - that I promise!

Happy Birthday to you Carmen - mommy loves you so much and having you as a daughter is the best thing that ever happened to me!

Happy Weekend & Mother's Day

Time really flies fast and weekend is here again and I've always look forward to do something worthy like painting an abstract art, crafting, scrapbooking, play and sing in the piano & etc at the weekends...unless I'm too tired/stressed up after layaning my little rascal CJ then I've become a lazy bone and my time for the weekend goes wasted...really frustrating when that happens...which usually does.

Okay here's something unrelated - American Idol...yes we now have the top 3 and Adam Lambert is in...of course he's the favorite to be the winner. I'm quite fond of him too, he's handsome but sometimes his looks are quite scary and weird but that's what we called unique and he might be or might not be - GAY. But he looks so convincing that maybe the rumours are true...OH NO! I think after he wins then he'll speak out the truth cos right now he needs or wants to be the next American Idol. See what happened to Clay Aiken.

The Top 3 - Kris Allen, Danny Gokey & Adam Lambert.

The handsome look of Adam Lambert

The scary look of Adam Lambert

Anyways, have a fun-crazy and smiley weekend then. Now I'll leave you to enjoy listening and singing to my all-time favorite song. Here's 'After All', a theme from the movie 'Chances Are' sang by Peter Cetera and Cher (but Kim Keyes sang Cher's part in this video). I think I'm going to revive my vocal and sing this song at the weekend...I used to memorize it by heart. It's truly a love song and best sang at weddings.

AFTER ALL
Well, here we are again
I guess it must be fate
We've tried it on our own
But deep inside we've known
We'd be back to set things straight

I still remember when
Your kiss was so brand new
Every memory repeats
Every step I take retreats
Every journey always brings me back to you

Chorus:
After all the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall
After all that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess it's meant to be
Forever you and me
After all

When love is truly right
It lives from year to year
It changes as it goes
And on the way it grows
But it never disappears

Chorus

Bridge:
Always just beyond my touch
You know I needed you so much
After all, what else is living for?

And Happy Mother's Day too - read related post here.

My Artsy post

Hi, just to let you know (but not sure if you're interested) I've just updated and posted my long overdue subject on my Art Project #3 & my inspirations. I hope to find some time to do more art projects very soon...I probably like/will do handmade jewelleries & purses this time and some greeting cards too. I'll also brush up my skills in knitting (so glad a friend is kind enough to tutor me on this one).

I've decided to do a giveaways of 1 notebook and 1 art matchbox for those interested to have it and in order to get them for FREE, you should be the 1ST ONE to leave some COMMENTS about it.

I've to admit...surprisingly I have become a fan of 'Twilight Saga' & 'Robert Pattinson'...officially. (Aaarrgh...crazy/confused fan screaming here) So my another post on these two are coming up very soon (since people accidentally stumbled on my lame blog because of these) and I've yet to finish reading the 1st book (I'm not a very good reader in this kind of novels but prefers watching the movie beforehand - hope Kristen Stewart (Bella) improves her acting in the sequel).

Anyways, I went to watch 'Baler' at the Cinema yesterday evening, no doubt the movie is well directed but I'm truly disappointed with the ending. Why did they let the hero (Jericho Rosales as Celso) die...why? why?! Shucks...I hate this feeling after watching a movie. Now...I don't think I would buy the VCD/DVD anymore.

A Virtuoso

Since my sista Debbie posted about our cousin 13 year old Miclen LaiPang who made his way into the Top 40 of the America's Got Talent this season in her blog recently, I too feeling so proud of him also would like to post something about this young virtuoso. He's already a genius in the making when he was 5 years old or maybe younger..so far that I could remember of Miclen. Here's an amazing video of him....I wonder who choreographed his moves...I'm just in awe right now...SO SO PROUD and HAPPY for him!

Here's Miclen and I during his visit to Sabah when he was about 5 years old.

Love you Micy!
